Share Post

A new strategic partnership between Barnet and Carbon Fiber Conversions aims to accelerate the use of recycled carbon fibres in plastic materials, marking an important step toward sustainability in the advanced materials and composites industry.

The collaboration was announced on 10 March 2026 during the global composites exhibition JEC World 2026. Through this partnership, both companies plan to expand the global market for recycled carbon fibre used in high-performance plastic applications.

Carbon Fiber Conversions brings more than a decade of expertise in recycling and processing carbon fibre waste, while Barnet contributes its strong international sales network and more than 125 years of experience in high-performance fibres and polymers. By combining their technical and commercial strengths, the companies aim to create a stronger platform for innovation and wider adoption of recycled carbon fibre materials.

A key focus of the partnership is promoting CarboFlow, a product developed by Carbon Fiber Conversions. CarboFlow is a 100% recycled carbon fibre material designed for reinforcing thermoplastic compounds used in high-performance plastics. The material provides controlled properties, consistent quality, and reliable mechanical performance, making it suitable for industrial production.

Since its introduction, more than 5,000 tonnes of CarboFlow have already been delivered for series production applications, demonstrating strong market demand for sustainable carbon fibre solutions. The material is designed to work efficiently in plastic processing systems and can be used in various industries such as automotive, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.

Industry experts believe the partnership could significantly expand the adoption of recycled carbon fibre in plastics. By combining recycling expertise with global distribution capabilities, the companies aim to open new markets and provide manufacturers with cost-effective and environmentally responsible material solutions.

The initiative also reflects a broader trend in the composites and technical textiles sectors, where companies are increasingly focusing on circular economy practices and sustainable material innovation. Recycling carbon fibre not only reduces industrial waste but also lowers the environmental footprint associated with producing new carbon fibres.

Overall, the partnership between Barnet and Carbon Fiber Conversions represents a significant step toward scaling sustainable carbon fibre solutions, helping manufacturers integrate recycled materials into high-performance plastic products while supporting global sustainability goals.
